According to our bylaws, members of the Twentieth Century Club should be “persons who are willing to give their time and talents to projects of civic betterment in cancer-related areas.”

Twentieth Century Club 2024-2025 Service Requirements

for New Members

Attendance

  • Members must attend 7 of 9 business luncheons (September-May) which are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. Purchasing lunch is optional.
  • Members must attend the annual Hope Ball in the spring. First year members are REQUIRED to tear down/clean up after the Ball which may be that evening or the day after the event.
  • Annual dues are $90 and should be paid at the May business meeting. Make checks payable to the 20th

Hope Ball Requirements

  • Members are required to purchase two (2) Hope Ball tickets at $350 each. (Members must attend the Ball.) Any variance in this requirement must be approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Every member must serve on a Hope Ball committee.

Dinners & Bingo Night

  • All members are required to provide food for FOUR (4) dinners and stay and serve. You will sign up to bring an item, such as a vegetable, salad or dessert. We serve the patients, eat with them, provide fellowship, and clean up afterwards. (Be prepared to stay approximately two hours, 5-7 p.m. Dinners are provided on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.
  • All members will be required to participate in one Tuesday Bingo Night. You will serve a meal and clean up, plus get the opportunity to play Bingo with our patients!
  • All members must earn four (4) additional service credits before the May meeting. 

Service Credits

  • All members must earn four (4) additional service credits before the May meeting. Credits may be earned in many ways and the service credit opportunities change from year to year as determined by the Board. Reference to this will be in the Member Directory that you will receive in September.

2024-2025 Events for New Members to Attend

May Club Meeting

New Members for the 2024-2025 Club Year will be introduced at our May Club meeting and luncheon, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Chenal Country Club. Prior to the Club meeting, New Members will be photographed for the 2024-2025 Club membership directory. Following the Club meeting you are required to attend a New Member Orientation Session. Tentatively attend to be at this meeting from 11:0am -1:30pm.

Tour of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS

In October, New Members will take a tour of the Rockefeller Cancer Institute with the First Vice President. This will help to understand the experiences that our patients are having as they undergo various cancer treatments.

During the New Member Orientation Session, the history and present-day activities of the Club will be discussed, along with all membership requirements. Details of the Hope Ball and the various fundraising processes will also be explained.
